Unicorn Birthday Party Ideas
It’s no secret I love throwing styled birthday parties, and when I get to celebrate one of my own kid’s birthdays, it’s even more fun! My almost three-year old has been asking for a Unicorn Birthday Party for months, ever since she saw pictures of one in a magazine. So when I was asked to throw a party using the new Cricut® Explore Air™ 2 Special Edition, Martha Stewart Machine Bundle available exclusively at Michaels as well as the new Martha Stewart Celebrations party supplies at Michaels, I was thrilled.
There are 10 different themes to choose from (including pink ombre, indigo, and sterling! Hello, Summer parties!) and the line of cotton candy iridescent party supplies with unicorn details was perfect! The Martha Stewart Celebrations line at Michaels offers all of the decorations you need to throw a Unicorn Party: garlands, balloons, plates, napkins, vessels for party favors, and more! I love the pastel colors and the iridescent party supplies–it’s not overwhelmingly unicorns–just the right amount! And in addition, Cricut has a ton of crafting supplies that match the unicorn birthday theme perfectly. Emme invited a few of her friends for a small unicorn birthday party and they all had a blast–the little girls are all obsessed with unicorns!

Martha Stewart Cricut Explore Air 2
What I was really excited about was that I received a Cricut® Explore Air™ 2 Special Edition, Martha Stewart Machine Bundle, which is ONLY at Michaels. It is beautiful! It has a vanilla pearl finish with brushed gold details and comes with a matching gold tool set. The bundle also comes with 25 Martha Stewart projects so you can get to crafting unicorn birthday party decorations right out of the box.
Like the other Explore Air 2 machines, the Martha Stewart Cricut Explore Air 2 can write, score, and cut in one step. The Smart Set Dial allows you to set the machine to cut predefined materials, and with the “custom” setting, you can cut 100+ different materials up to 2x faster than previous machines! Combined with Cricut Design Space that has 1000s of images to use, as well as the ability to upload your own images and fonts, you can create endless projects. I also love that it can connect to my computer and phone via Bluetooth, so I don’t have to have my computer wired to it to make my projects. For those of you with older Cricut machines, all of your cartridges are compatible as well. The Explore Air 2 is simple to use, but you will achieve stunning results with this machine. From apparel to home decor and personalized party supplies, you can make everything look professional!

How to Plan a Unicorn Party with Martha Stewart and Cricut
All of the little girls sat at a small table while enjoying the unicorn party, complete with unicorn birthday cake ice cream and unicorn cupcakes (of course!) I absolutely loved how this table turned out–the Martha Stewart Celebrations party supplies were perfect for the little girls!
On the table I included both sizes of the Martha Stewart party plates, party napkins, party cups and straws, and iridescent cupcake and star picks for the cupcakes. I personalized the small plates with custom Unicorn birthday designs created on my Martha Stewart Cricut.
I accented the table with tons different unicorn birthday party decorations: a small bouquet of flowers, a confetti sparkle table runner, DIY sparkle cupcake wraps, and personalized unicorn birthday plates (one of my favorite details!) The girls at the party couldn’t get enough of the pink milk, either. It was such a simple addition to make the unicorn party even more magical!
Didn’t the plates turn out so cute!? With my Martha Stewart Cricut machine and the easy-to-learn Cricut Design Space, I was able to find these unicorns within the available images and used Cricut mint and white vinyl to personalize the iridescent unicorn dessert plates from the Martha Stewart Celebrations line at Michaels Stores:

Cricut has this amazing Sparkle paper that comes in sampler packs. I got the Spring Meadow sampler pack, and made the scalloped cupcake wrapper–one of the Martha Stewart exclusive Design Space projects which coordinated perfectly with the party supplies – including the unicorn and star cupcake toppers from the Martha Stewart Celebrations line at Michaels.

Unicorn Birthday Dessert Table
The Unicorn Birthday dessert table turned out great and was so fun to put together with the Martha Stewart Celebrations products and Cricut projects. The Martha Stewart helium balloons and the pink and iridescent pom poms framed the table and the tassel banner as well as the “Emme” unicorn banner I made using a combination of the Martha Stewart iridescent letters and DIY Cricut pieces.
The sparkle of the Unicorn party decorations added just the right touch of magic to the table and reflected all of the natural light.
How to Make a Unicorn Birthday Party Banner Decoration
To make the banner, you’ll need the following supplies:
-Martha Stewart Iridescent letters from Michaels
We’ve designed this unicorn party banner on Design Space so you can make it too! First, open the BANNER PROJECT IN DESIGN SPACE.
Cut the pieces of the name banner out of pink card stock.
I love the gold details on the Martha Stewart machine!
After your name pieces are cut, take the letters you need from the Martha Stewart letter box. Using the Cricut paper cutter, I trimmed the top connecting pieces off of the top:
Attach the letters to the banner pieces.
Then open the UNICORN BANNER PROJECT IN DESIGN SPACE. Cut the bottom layer of the unicorn out of pink card stock, and the top layer out of party foil. The Cricut Explore Air 2 does an awesome job of cutting a variety of materials, including party foil:
Put all of your pieces together and adhere with string, and your Unicorn Birthday banner is complete! It was the perfect personalized touch for the party backdrop.
This unicorn birthday party is just loaded with coordinating unicorn birthday party ideas that you can choose from to customize your unicorn party!
I designed a cute unicorn birthday cake that could be used for any little girl’s birthday party! The custom sprinkle cake with rainbow swirl meringues I made for Emme was one of the highlights of the party. She loved it!
I used the Martha Stewart iridescent favor buckets to hold gum balls, unicorn twists, and a hair ribbon for each of the girls–made out of Martha Stewart ribbon from Michaels! My oldest daughter came up with the idea to put the unicorn marshmallow twists in the bucket to look like a rainbow!
I covered store-bought vanilla cupcakes in white sprinkles and decorated them with fondant stars and unicorn picks from the Martha Stewart Celebrations line. More Cricut made DIY cupcake wrappers (one of the 25 included projects!) made them even that much more special.
And in the background you can see a really easy (and definitely a statement) project: I wrapped the flower vases in Cricut Holographic vinyl! I love those vases so much!
Probably my favorite unicorn birthday dessert was the mini unicorn milkshakes rimmed with white chocolate and sprinkles, and topped with loads of whipped cream, homemade meringues, and sugar unicorns. The star straws are from the Martha Stewart Celebrations line and I personalized them with “3”s and unicorns cut on the Cricut out of mint vinyl.

The girls absolutely adored them!
I also used the Martha Stewart Cricut machine to cut unicorns out of Cricut Glitter Vinyl to put on some of the star balloons:

I also made a custom unicorn birthday t-shirt for the birthday girl. (And she liked using the poms poms to dance and play with LOL!)

Star Favor bags from the Martha Stewart Celebrations line were also adorned with unicorns and filled with unicorn confetti made with party foil:

The girls were able to take home as many unicorn themed sweets as they wanted from the dessert table. They filled Martha Stewart favor bags from Michaels with loads of cookies and candy from the table.
It was such a beautiful unicorn birthday party! I can’t wait to make more projects with my new Martha Stewart Cricut Explore Air 2, and share all of the projects from this party in more detail! I hope you enjoy these unicorn birthday party ideas as much as I do!
