This 3D doghouse party favor can be used for a generic puppy birthday party, or can easily be used in addition to Paw Patrol or Puppy Dog pals party supplies to create a more character-based party favor. It can also be used for a either a boy or girl party depending on the colors you choose to use. I love the bold look of the primary colors, though!

What Cricut Supplies do you need to make the Puppy Party Favor?

Cricut Maker

Cricut Knife Blade

Purple Mat and Blue or Green Mat

Cricut Chipboard

Cricut Premium Vinyl

Quick Drying Glue (I like this one from Beacon on Amazon)

Mini Stuffed Puppies (I found them on Amazon)

DIY 3D Doghouse Party Favor Idea

How perfect would this be as a Paw Patrol Party Favor? This Puppy Party Favor is constructed using Cricut Chipboard, so you’ll need the Cricut Maker and Knife Blade for this project! The Knife Blade is such a great tool for making DIY Birthday Party Ideas, because you can build 3D items that are sturdy. I covered the chipboard with matching vinyl pieces to add some color.

I used a birdhouse project that is available in Cricut Design Space and customized the file to make it look like a doghouse.

Click to Make: DIY Doghouse Party Favor

I customized the file to fit a 6″ mini stuffed puppy – perfect for a party favor! Click “Customize” to change the colors of the vinyl pieces or the size as needed and click “Make It” when you’re ready to cut.

When cutting chipboard, it’s important to use the Purple strong grip mat and secure all four sides with masking tape or painters tape.

Cut all of the pieces out of chipboard – if you haven’t used the Cricut Knife Blade yet, it cuts a lot of repetitive passes with the blade to cut designs out of thick materials like chipboard or basswood. The Maker will tell you 20 passes is required for the dog house pieces. I ALWAYS start checking to see if the pieces are cut through at about 12-13 passes by pausing the Maker, checking the pieces, and then checking every pass after that until they are done. These pieces took 15-16 passes. If you check the cut progress, you’ll reduce the possibility of damage to your mat.

Then cut all of the colored pieces out of Cricut Premium Vinyl.

I carefully lined up the Vinyl with the edges of the chipboard pieces, smoothing it out over the chipboard.

Constructing the doghouse is pretty easy! The large pieces of the doghouse are dovetailed on the edges so they fit together and hold. I did use a thin bead of quick drying glue on the inside corners just to stabilize it. I also attached the house part to the base with a thin bead of glue as well.

For the “shingles,” I followed the birdhouse picture on Cricut Design Space and glued them down, starting with the bottom layer and letting each dry before adding another layer (that’s where the quick drying glue comes in handy.) In this picture you can see the guidelines that are part of the design showing through the vinyl a little bit. In the future, I’ll be deleting those guidelines because I don’t think they’re necessary for construction and I’d rather not see them in the finished product.

The fence piece also has dovetail joints. I did not glue it on, so it could be removed when taking the puppies in and out of the doghouse.

Let all of the glue dry and you’re done!

These make such cute DIY Puppy Party Favors and would be perfect for a Paw Patrol or Puppy Dog Pals Birthday Party! In a future post, I’ll be sharing how to make the adorable personalized dog collars for the stuffed puppies!
