While Fall is when I’m thinking of upcoming Halloween and Holiday posts, it’s also when we celebrate two of my kids’ birthdays (the oldest and youngest both have birthdays in October). So mixed in with all of my holiday projects are thoughts of party themes, decorations, and of course DIY party crafts. While creating spring and summer parties are definitely easier because I LOVE bright colors and themes (hello, UNICORN PARTY and OUTDOOR PEACH PARTY), creating unique fall birthday parties are always fun. And, this year with the help of the new Martha Stewart Celebrations line and Cricut® Explore Air™ 2 Special Edition, Martha Stewart Machine Bundle available exclusively at Michaels, planning two fall birthday parties is especially fun and easy! My youngest is turning one (how is it possible my baby is one?!) and I’m in full first birthday party planning mode. Using the Martha Stewart Celebrations Blue Ombre collection and the NEW Martha Stewart Paints, I planned a cute little Dinosaur themed party, and today I’m sharing the tutorial for DIY Dinosaur Party Favors using my Martha Stewart Cricut Explore Air 2!

With my Cricut Explore Air 2, I was able to create beautiful and easy party favors that might have otherwise been overlooked because they would be too time consuming or expensive to purchase already made. But with the new Martha Stewart Explore Air 2, I can create Pinterest-worthy projects that personalize the party at a great value.

It’s simple to use but it is a stunning machine. The Martha Stewart edition is a pearl white with brushed gold details, and is probably my favorite of all of the Explore models because of those gorgeous details. It also comes with a coordinating gold tool set and Martha Stewart projects so you can start crafting gorgeous designs right out of the box. In addition to the projects, this machine comes with 25 exclusive Martha Stewart images (including a pineapple! Yay!) that you can combine with the 1000s of designs available in the free, easy-to-learn Cricut Design Space to create projects that are perfect for any occasion. And because this Explore Air 2 model can cut up to 2x faster than previous Explore models, you can cut 100+ different materials from cardstock and vinyl to foil and faux leather with ease.

In addition to the Martha Stewart Cricut Explore Air 2, I used items from the Martha Stewart Celebrations Blue Ombre Collection AND the brand new line of Martha Stewart Paints, all available exclusively at Michaels.

I absolutely LOVE the new Martha Stewart paint colors–they are so bright and will be perfect for a ton of DIY craft projects. And there are a ton of colors–over 80 colors and finishes! You can use the paints on wood, glass, ceramic, metal, terra cotta, paper, and fabric–the craft projects you can use this paint for are endless! And, what I also like about these paints is that they are CPSIA certified, and compliant to be safe for use with children ages 3 and up. So although I can’t let my baby use them as fingerpaints, I can let all of my other kids use them, too.

What Supplies you need to make these DIY Dinosaur Party Favors

Cricut Cardstock
Cricut Pens
-Martha Stewart Cricut Vinyl, for monogram letters
-Ribbon, to attach tag to bucket
Brown Shredded Paper Filler
-“Dinosaur” eggs (I used speckled Easter eggs like THESE)
-Inexpensive dinosaur toys (like THESE)

First, I painted the dinosaurs solid colors using the Martha Stewart paint and let them dry (it took a couple of coats.) Bright colored dinosaurs are just too cute! *Note: These dinosaur toys are for older children. I would NOT recommend giving them to small children.*

Then, I made the dinosaur favor tags using white Cricut cardstock. Having the ability to write with the Cricut Pens is a feature that I love about the Explore Air 2. Less work for me!

In Cricut Design Space, I created a tag shape from scratch, and added dinosaur graphics and text available in Design Space. You can access the file that I created here:

You’ll notice I have the fonts and dinosaur switched to the “write” function on the right sidebar.

When you click “Make It,” the Martha Stewart Cricut knows to draw everything first, and then cut out the tags. Outside of changing the pen colors, the Martha Stewart Cricut does all of the work for you!

Once the tags have finished cutting, the DIY Dinosaur Favor tags are done! Just loop ribbon in them and attach to the favor buckets.

Then, I created a simple, single letter monogram for each kid in Design Space. I cut each letter out of the NEW Martha Stewart Cricut Vinyl, also available at Michaels, and placed them on the front of the buckets.

Then I filled the buckets with the brown shredded paper filler, added the “dinosaur” eggs and dinosaur toys. All done!

I styled the favor display with confetti and napkins from the Martha Stewart Blue Ombre Celebrations line (I adore the blue plaid design!) and placed the buckets on a bright blue cake stand with more of the brown paper shred:

If you’ve been wanting to purchase a Cricut machine, the Martha Stewart Cricut Explore Air 2 is a great option! You can make so many projects with it, including the TRICK OR TREAT REVERSE CANVAS PROJECT I just made!
