DIY Can Koozie with Cricut Iron-On

I can’t believe that summer is just around the corner…mostly because it’s cold and snowy here. In April. I’m over it. But alas, it’s only a few weeks until we HAVE to have warm weather, right? So I’m gearing up for summer by making these custom can koozies using downloadable SVGs from the Everyday Party Magazine shop!

This post and the photos within it may contain affiliate links. If you make a purchase through one or more of the links, I may receive a small commission at no extra cost to you.

-SVG Design or other cut file (you can get my “Cheers Y’all” or “It’s Summer Y’all” designs HERE)
-Cricut Maker or other Cricut Cutting Machine (SHOP HERE)
Cricut Iron On
Cricut EasyPress
Cricut EasyPress Mat
-Can Koozies ( can use the SVG for anything! A shirt or tote or cooler bag would be great with either of these designs!)

The first step is to download the SVG of your choice into Cricut Design Space.

Re-size the image to the desired size for your project.

Cut the design (make sure you click “MIRROR” on and put the shiny side of the Iron On vinyl down on the mat).

For this project, we used the awesome new Cricut SportFlex Iron On! If you haven’t checked it out, it’s awesome–it’s light and flexible and it comes with the Cricut StrongBond guarantee!

If you want to see the projects using the Cricut SportFlex Iron On, check out the DIY WORKOUT SHIRT I made as well as the CRICUT SPORTFLEX PROJECT ROUNDUP featuring some of my favorite bloggers and their projects!

Using the Cricut EasyPress makes applying your project to your material a breeze! Depending on the vinyl and material you choose, just following the EasyPress Recommended Settings from Cricut. (CLICK HERE FOR EASYPRESS RECOMMENDATIONS).

I made a couple of these custom can koozies as Teacher Appreciation gifts, and so did Everyday Party Magazine! I’m thinking I want to make some for myself, too–summer can’t come soon enough!

DIY Workout Shirt with Cricut SportFlex Iron On

Ever since it’s launch a few weeks ago, I’ve been super excited to try out the new Cricut SportFlex Iron On. Earlier this week, I shared projects that some of my blogger friends had created, and I finally got the chance to use it! I decided to make this “Namast’ay in Bed” shirt, well, because that’s generally my level of motivation when I head to workout. Haha!

Cricut SportFlex Iron On is extremely flexible and lightweight, and is made specifically to be used on activewear materials. I can’t wait to make ALL THE SHIRTS, y’all. Keep reading for the tutorial to make this custom workout shirt!

-Activewear shirt (like DriFit or other brand; I got mine that is pictured at Target) HERE is a similar one at Amazon.
Cricut SportFlex Iron On in black (or whatever color you choose–SportFlex comes in several different colors!) SHOP HERE.
Cricut Maker or other Cricut cutting machine (this design is specifically made in Cricut Design Space) SHOP MACHINES HERE.
Cricut EasyPress or regular iron or heat press. Our instructions will be for the Cricut EasyPress which you can get HERE.

Cricut SportFlex and Cricut Maker

After gathering your materials, the first step is open the “Namast’ay in Bed” design in Cricut Design Space. Since I’ve designed it using Cricut fonts, you can click right over to the design and get started! You’ll want to click “customize” so you can edit the design to the size desired for your shirt.

This is what your screen in Design Space will look like. Mine is sized to 11″ wide.

Cricut Design Space Namast'ay in bed

When you’re ready to cut, click the green “Make It” button and you’ll head to the cutting set up.

Make sure you set the design to “mirror” (you’ll use this for all Iron On projects).

Cricut Design Space Namast'ay in Bed T Shirt

Click continue, and set your cutting material to SportFlex. And then let your Cricut machine do the work!

After cutting, weed out the Iron On that is not needed and prepare your shirt for heating. Place an EasyPress Mat under the shirt and preheat the shirt for a few seconds.

The temperature setting for the Cricut EasyPress for SportFlex are 305 degrees for 30 seconds on the front of garment and 15 seconds on the back of the garment. While the Iron On design is still WARM, you peel off the backing material. You’re done!

Quick and Easy Best Teacher Ever Mug Gift

It’s hard to believe that the end of school will be here before you know it (mostly because it’s still SNOWING here! Eww!), but it’s just a few short weeks before all of the kids start prepping for summer vacation! By the time my kids hit the beginning of May, things really start winding down – with school plays, end of the year concerts, finishing up spring sports – it will go by so quickly! As it gets closer to the end of school, it will also be time for Teacher Appreciation Week! Today, I’m sharing a really easy DIY Best Teacher Ever Mug using my Cricut Maker for the April Craft Lightning event!

I think that the best Teacher gifts can be simple, thoughtful, and expensive. This teacher mug gift checks all of those boxes! Your child can even help craft this mug! Fill it with flowers, pencils, maybe a small gift card, and you’re done! Your Teacher Appreciation gift can be done in less than 15 minutes for only a few dollars.

Blank Mug (can be a white mug as pictured, or even a travel mug or stainless steel tumbler) Buy a whole set HERE and save them for future projects!
-Black Outdoor Premium Vinyl (I love Cricut brand, you can BUY IT HERE)
-Transfer Paper/Tape
Cricut Maker or similar machine
Cricut Essential Tools (not necessary, but a great set of crafting tools to keep on hand, and helpful for weeding the design)

To make your Best Teacher Ever Mug, first you need to open your design in Cricut Design Space. You can design your own, or download our hand lettered “Best Teacher Ever” design from the Everyday Party Magazine Shop. Once you get your design uploaded, you need to size it to fit your mug in Design Space:

Best Teacher Ever SVG Cricut Design Space

Once you have it sized the way you like it, make sure to “attach” the image so that it won’t separate to fit the cutting mat. Then click the green “Make It” button.

Since you will be using permanent vinyl and NOT iron on vinyl for this DIY Teacher gift, the design does NOT have to be mirrored.

Best Teacher Ever SVG Cricut Design Space

Cut the design using the “premium outdoor vinyl” setting, or set it cutting level according to the product you’re using.

Weed out the unneeded vinyl, and transfer to the coffee mug using transfer tape. You’re done!

Seriously, your child’s teacher will love having this personalized mug! We’ve already made two, and we’re planning on filling with a small bouquet of flowers to make it a great desk decoration for a few days. Best Student Ever! haha

Unicorns and Mermaids Shirt with Cricut Patterned Iron On

I am always creating new shirts for my tween daughter, mostly because she is constantly coming up with new design ideas and sayings (usually they revolve around Disney characters or quotes, to be honest). When I got in the new Cricut Patterned Iron On, we were both really excited to try some of it on a new shirt! Using two colors of Cricut Patterned Iron On, and Cricut Design Space, I made her this “Unicorns & Mermaids” raglan shirt in just a few minutes time!

Also, the amazing people over at Cricut gave me resources to create this post, but all of the opinions and feelings about their products are our mine.

Have you seen the new Cricut Patterned Iron On yet? If you haven’t checked it out, GO NOW. No kidding y’all, it’s a game changer. The Patterned Iron On comes in sampler packs, which is great because you can try 3 different patterns with each purchase, and you can mix and match the patterns to make unique projects. There’s so many different projects you can create with each pack! From tote bags, baby clothing, to accessories, and the awesome shirt ideas I have, my brain is on overload! Currently, there are 9 different gorgeous sampler packs, each with 3- 12 x 17″ sheets, including the two different sampler packs I chose sheets from: the Cricut Natalie Malan Aquamarine and Cricut Natalie Malan Sunset Blossom Sampler Packs. WATERCOLOR. IRON ON. Enough said. Making this Cricut Unicorn Shirt is quick and easy with Cricut Patterned Iron on!

Unicorn Shirt -Mermaid Shirt with Cricut Design Space and Cricut Patterned Iron On Vinyl

Look at how gorgeous those colors are! I can’t get enough of these watercolor designs.

The materials you need to make this project are:

-Shirt of your choice (we got this kid-sized pink and white raglan baseball shirt on Amazon–SHOP HERE)
Cricut Patterned Iron On (Natalie Malan Aquamarine and Sunset Blossom Sampler Packs)
Cricut Maker or other Cricut Machine (CLICK HERE TO SEE MACHINE OPTIONS) with Light Grip or Standard Grip Mat (SHOP HERE)
Cricut EasyPress (SHOP HERE and see why it’s one of my favorite Cricut products) or Iron.
-Cricut EasyPress Mat (SHOP HERE)

Once you’ve gathered your materials, you’ll need to head over to Cricut Design Space to customize the design to your shirt size. And, since I designed this shirt entirely within Design Space, you can just bring up the design and it’s ready to go!

*And since I used a couple of design elements available with Cricut Access, it’s a great time to check out all that Cricut Access has to offer! Cricut Access is the Design Space subscription that literally gives you access to 30,000+ images, hundreds of fonts and projects, AND 10% off and Design Space purchases!

When you click to customize the design in Cricut Design Space, this is what it will look like:

Cricut Design Space Unicorn
If you need to change the design size to fit your shirt, just make sure that you click “select all” in the top left of the menu bar and then you can resize the whole design at once.

Once you have the design sized properly, click the green “Make It” button.

This is the screen that will pop up. As you can see, because I used two different Patterned Iron On patterns, Design Space split the design into two mats, one for each Patterned Iron On color.

Cricut Design Space Mermaid
The most important thing to remember when using Iron On is that you have to have your design set to cut in “MIRROR” image.
Here’s what “Unicorns” looks like after I clicked the “Mirror” button to “ON” (the slider turned green).

How to Use Cricut Design Space
After you have clicked BOTH mats and set them to “Mirror” on, you can click the green “Continue” button to go to this screen:

Cricut Design Space
Here you’ll set your Material to “Patterned Iron-On” and load your cutting mats. Make sure you place the Patterned Iron On face DOWN (shiny side DOWN) on the mat, and press the “Go” button on your Cricut.

How to Use Cricut Maker to Make Unicorn Shirt(You can see that the Patterned side is down on my mat!)

Once both pieces have cut you’re ready to adhere them to your shirt.

I’m using the Cricut EasyPress and Cricut EasyPress Mat to easily apply the Patterned Iron On to the raglan shirt. I can’t even express how much I love the Cricut EasyPress! It’s so convenient and easy to use, and it works like a charm (SHOP FOR THE EASYPRESS HERE)! And the new tEasyPress Mat makes the application of Iron On even more seamless by providing a barrier between the heat press and the hard surface you are using for crafting (in my case, my granite countertop).

Cricut EasyPress and Cricut EasyPress Mat to make iron on shirt
For Patterned Iron On you need to set your EasyPress to 340 degrees and the timer to 50 seconds (if using a regular iron, use the Cotton setting):

Cricut EasyPress
After the EasyPress is at temperature: place the EasyPress Mat under the shirt, preheat the shirt for 5-10 seconds, then position your Patterned Iron On design. I put both colors on the shirt at once, just making sure that the Iron On didn’t overlap on the plastic carrier sheet.

You can see in the picture how the EasyPress Mat fits right under the design:

Unicorn Birthday Shirt with Cricut Patterned Iron On Vinyl
Using firm pressure, press the EasyPress on the front of the shirt (I had to do it in two sections) for 50 seconds each time:

Cricut EasyPress to make Unicorn Birthday Shirt(Excuse my incredible manicure my 2 year old gave me. 4 kids y’all. It happens).

Then, set your timer to 15 seconds and use the EasyPress on the BACK of the shirt:

Wait for the design and shirt to completely cool, and then peel off the carrier sheet. You’re done!

I honestly can’t get over how much I love the new Cricut Patterned Iron On, and my daughter is equally enthralled! After asking myself forever when we would get patterned vinyl for Cricut, it’s here! It really takes our shirt designs to a whole new level. And with all of the choices, I can’t wait to create even more projects! (In fact, I couldn’t wait and created this CUSTOM MONOGRAMMED LEATHER TOTE BAG with vinyl from the Cricut Filigree Blue Patterned Iron On Sampler Pack!).

Easy Easter Chocolate Cake with Peeps Bunny Marshmallows

Only one week until Easter! We are all about easy and adorable Easter projects for this week–and this Chocolate Cake with Peeps Bunny Marshmallows is perfect!

This post and the photos within it may contain affiliate links. If you make a purchase through one or more of the links, I may receive a small commission at no extra cost to you.

Items needed to make this Easy Easter Dessert:

-Chocolate Cake Mix (search on AMAZON for some of my favorite chocolate cake mixes!)
-Chocolate Icing Recipe
-Chocolate Cookie Crumbs (have Oreos delivered to your front door!)
-Fondant (this is our absolute FAVORITE brand of fondant)
-Food Coloring (gel food coloring is best)
-Peeps Bunny Marshmallows (love ’em or hate ’em, they sure are cute)

Bake your cake according to the instructions on the box. Depending on the brand and the size/number of layers you want the cake to be, you make have to make two batches of cake mix. Let cool.

Prepare chocolate icing and layer in-between the cakes using a star tip so it leaves the pretty edge that’s visible (since we’re not icing the outside of the cake).

Using the fondant, make small carrots to decorate the top. Use small amounts of orange and green food coloring and form the carrots and stems with your fingers and small craft knife. If the fondant is too sticky, use a little bit of corn starch or powdered sugar to keep from sticking to your fingers/counters.

Decorate the top of the cake and cake stand with chocolate cookie crumbs. Add your Peeps Bunny Marshmallows to the top of the cake by sticking them on with toothpicks.

Note: if you decide to make your cake 3 or more layers, you can use plastic straws cut to height to stabilize the cake and keep it from leaning too far.
