The holiday season may look a little bit different this year, but that isn’t necessarily a bad thing! I am looking forward to spending time with my family and having a nice, quiet Christmas. My decorations are keeping with the cozy theme, so I made a Home for the Holidays doormat for my front porch, and I love how it turned out.
If you’ve never made a DIY doormat, definitely check out my tutorial for a Cricut DIY Doormat. I use freezer paper and acrylic craft paint in that post, but I also recommend using Black Flex Seal spray paint.

Flex Seal dries into a rubber coating, and I’ve found that is a little more durable than regular craft paint. Flex Seal also makes Liquid Rubber in a Can that I’m interested to try. If you’ve used it, let me know how it works! I had some spray left for this mat, but I think it would go on thicker than spray and be even more durable.
I’ve used blank coir doormats from Target as well as blank doormats from Amazon. I try to watch for the best prices so I can grab a few extra and make them as gifts!
