I have several Christmas trees in my house and I love changing up the themes for each tree (which is easy to do with my Cricut, too)! This year, I’m adding a fun and colorful tree in my office and I made some EASY and CHEAP glitter Christmas ornaments. I made 5 different kinds of DIY glitter ornaments using clear plastic ornaments that I picked up at the craft store, all with a couple of craft supplies and some fun glitter!

DIY Glitter Ornament Ideas
These glitter ornaments are so fun for the holidays! Read each brief and simple tutorial to make your own!
Glitter “Dipped” Ornaments
Get the effect of having your ornament dipped in glitter using some tape & Mod Podge.
Place tape about 1/2 way down around the whole ornament.
Cover the bottom half of the ornament with Mod Podge using a paintbrush or foam brush. Sprinkle glitter while adhesive is still wet to cover the whole area. Peel off the tape before it’s dry.
Glitter Filled Ornaments
Using Beacon Glitter-It! adhesive to make ornament is the EASIEST. CRAFT. EVER. Get the full tutorial in my How to Make Easy Glitter Ornaments post, or at the video below:
One thing I love about Glitter-It! is that you can use both fine and chunky glitter! Coat the inside of a plastic ornament with Glitter-It! and then coat with glitter after a few seconds.
I LOVE the look of the chunky glitter – it’s so sparkly and fun for my office tree!
I also love how using white iridescent fine glitter adds texture and shine to a tree without adding more color!
Glitter Polka Dot Ornament
You can use Mod Podge to create whatever glitter shape you’d like on your ornaments – I used a round foam brush for stenciling to create polka dots all over a clear ornament.
Then I sprinkled them with glitter to create a unique ornament for my tree!
Glitter Text with Vinyl Stencil
Create a simple typography ornament using glitter and a vinyl stencil that you can create with your Cricut! I used the word “Joy” but they’d be perfect using names, monograms, and more!
I used my Cricut Joy machine to cut the vinyl – it’s perfect for small designs and it doesn’t take up much room on my craft table while everything is covered with glitter!
Just transfer the stencil to the ornament (a disc shaped ornament works best).
Paint the letters with Mod Podge then sprinkle with glitter.
You can definitely get the same look with glitter vinyl, but if you don’t want to buy special vinyl for one project, this method is easy and is great for using up scrap vinyl!
I’m thinking of filling this ornament with confetti or fake snow for a fun look!
That’s all 5 ideas! I can’t wait to make more for my other trees!
