Hocus Pocus Trunk or Treat
{I updated the product list 2023! They’re at the bottom of the post.} It’s October, and that means that Halloween decorating is in full swing! In our neighborhood we get a ton of trick-or-treaters, but I’ve always wanted to participate in a Halloween Trunk or Treat in our area. I think it’s such a good idea!
I was lucky to work with a fabulous Halloween (and all occasion) supply company, Oriental Trading, for this Hocus Pocus Trunk or Treat. Along with my trusty Cricut, I made some AWESOME projects for you to make for your next Trunk or Treat. Keep reading for the best Hocus Pocus Trunk or Treat Ideas!
How to Decorate a Hocus Pocus Trunk or Treat
One of my all-time favorite Halloween movies is “Hocus Pocus,” so I immediately decided to work on a Halloween Trunk or Treat theme for fans the movie. And now, with Hocus Pocus 2 coming in September, I’m definitely making this Trunk or Treat again! The Sanderson Sisters are coming back to Salem! Scroll to the bottom to get links to all of the products I used!
I wanted to make it a little spooky, but not enough to scare away the little kids. And I wanted to make it a simple Trunk or Treat with Halloween items I had around my house, plus some DIY decorations.
A “Hocus Pocus” banner hanging from the top of the car greets everyone. I used my Cricut to cut out the Halloween banner. Here’s the design space link if you’d like to make one:
I was able to find a “vintage” vacuum, just like the kind Mary Sanderson rides in the movie, and I love it! It makes for a fun trunk!
Don’t Miss our Collection of Hocus Pocus SVG Files that you can use with your Cricut or Silhouette:

- I Smell Children Hocus Pocus Cut File
I used my Cricut Maker to add details to my decor, including the above banner and the names on these cardboard tombstones from Oriental Trading. Here’s the Cricut Design space link for the gravestone labels (just edit the name and date to whatever you’d like):

The inside of the trunk is filled with spooky and humorous details. I guess I wanted a little bit of a scary Trunk or Treat! To find some of the items in the shot, head over to the Halloween section at Oriental Trading, and I’ll post all of the products later in the post. You can also see that I filled a cauldron with candy to hand out at the Trunk or Treat.
One of my favorite pieces from the decor was the “Come Little Children” sign that I crafted with a chalkboard sign from Oriental Trading and white outdoor vinyl from Cricut.
For those of you that have seen the movie, “Come Little Children” is the first line of a song that Sarah Sanderson sings to lure all of the little children to their cabin (why does that sound worse that it seems in the movie? haha!) And I couldn’t forget the container of salt, which is supposed to ward off the witches.
Every witch needs a spell book, and although not as amazing as the one from the movie, I just love this prop book! A Halloween cloche from Target holds a fake skull.

Thank you! I was so excited to have found one!
When i try to download Hocus Pocus Trunk or Treat Gravestone Name. It says it’s saved as private.
I just checked it and it opened ok – the font is a Cricut Access font, so maybe that’s it? The Cricut font is “Bertham Pro Regular” if you’d like to recreate it!
We absolutely love this and thanks for all the details!! I don’t have a Cricut (I KNOW! I need one – on my list for Santa). Do you sell any of the items you listed? I would love to buy a banner from you.
Love this so much! Thanks again! Susan
Thank you! I don’t sell physical products, sorry 🙁
Hello! I LOVE all your ideas and was looking for a Hocus Pocus theme for our Trunk or Treat coming up! I was wondering if your Cricut files may still be available? I clicked on the two links and both showed they are “marked as private” and won’t open. 🙁
Cricut is having problems with their design space links since a recent update – I just tried to fix it, try it again 🙂 🙂
It is working now!! Thank you so much!! 🙂
