Make a DIY cake topper and add bright blue frosting to the outside of a layered cake, and you’re done!
This is an awesome mermaid sheet cake! You could even DIY it with a sheet cake from Costco or Sam’s Club!
Small mermaid toys always work well on cakes! No cake stand needed for this one, either!
Buttercream details are my favorite! And they’re easier than you think! You just need a variety of icing tips.
Instead of using fondant in silicon molds, you can use chocolate to make mermaid tails and shells!
Mermaid scales are easy to make with a large round piping tip and a spoon to flatten dollops of icing.
Another trick is to use fondant circles!
I never thought I’d like so much dark icing on a mermaid cake, but this looks really cool!
