Do you make valentines for family and friends? If you want to make a unique Valentine’s Day card this year, you need to check out this Laser Cut Valentine Card! Using a laser machine, you can make a handmade wood engraved card that is one of a kind!
DIY Laser Cut Valentine Card
Every year I make Valentine’s Day cards for my kids to use, and this year I used my laser cutting machine! In previous years I’ve made printable valentines such as Unicorn, Dinosaur, Harry Potter, and Fruit themed, but this year the kids wanted to make laser cut valentines.
If you have not seen my post about my new Makeblock xTool M1 10W Hybrid Laser and Blade Cutting machine, now is a great time! You can engrave different types of wood to make a unique laser cut card!
You can make a laser cut valentine with a diode laser machine like the xTool M1, or with a CO2 laser cutter.
What You Need to Make a Laser Cut Valentine’s Day Card
- xTool Laser Cutter (or CO2 machine like Glowforge )
- 1/8″ Plywood (available on Amazon, xTool, or other craft retailers)
xTool is even offering a Personalized Valentine’s Day Gift Supplies Bundle – you don’t want to miss it! It’s a great deal on special laser ready supplies!
I love this postcard inspired design! It’s perfect for all age groups and can be customized with any message you would like!
You can personalize the card by engraving your hand written message. It’s really easy to convert handwriting to an SVG for laser cut files!
Or you can just grab a marker and you can write on the blank space. This valentine is perfect for kids to send a special card to their grandparents. They will love it! It also makes a great memento to display every year.
How to Make a Wooden Valentine’s Day Card with a Laser Cutter
This file comes ready to cut on a laser machine – you will just have to set your cut and engrave settings based on the machine and wood you are using.
I used 3mm Glowforge brand Maple Plywood to make this version, if you would like to use something similar.
NOTE: This design may take additional time to engrave due to the border design. If you are using a less powerful laser or making several cards at one time, you can remove the striped border from the design to speed up the engrave.
You can add cute embellishments to the card, or allow your child to paint it for additional fun!
