It’s hard to believe that the end of school will be here before you know it (mostly because it’s still SNOWING here! Eww!), but it’s just a few short weeks before all of the kids start prepping for summer vacation! By the time my kids hit the beginning of May, things really start winding down – with school plays, end of the year concerts, finishing up spring sports – it will go by so quickly! As it gets closer to the end of school, it will also be time for Teacher Appreciation Week! Today, I’m sharing a really easy DIY Best Teacher Ever Mug using my Cricut Maker for the April Craft Lightning event!

I think that the best Teacher gifts can be simple, thoughtful, and expensive. This teacher mug gift checks all of those boxes! Your child can even help craft this mug! Fill it with flowers, pencils, maybe a small gift card, and you’re done! Your Teacher Appreciation gift can be done in less than 15 minutes for only a few dollars.

SUPPLIES NEEDED TO MAKE THE DIY TEACHER MUG

Best Teacher Ever SVG File by Pineapple Paper Co. for Everyday Party Magazine (DOWNLOAD SVG HERE)
-Blank Mug (can be a white mug as pictured, or even a travel mug or stainless steel tumbler) Buy a whole set of Blank White Mugs on Amazon and save them for future projects!
-Black Outdoor Premium Vinyl (I love Cricut brand, you can BUY IT HERE)
-Transfer Paper/Tape
Cricut Maker or similar machine
Cricut Essential Tools (not necessary, but a great set of crafting tools to keep on hand, and helpful for weeding the design)

To make your Best Teacher Ever Mug, first you need to open your design in Cricut Design Space. You can design your own, or download our hand lettered “Best Teacher Ever” design from the Everyday Party Magazine Shop. Once you get your design uploaded, you need to size it to fit your mug in Design Space:

Once you have it sized the way you like it, make sure to “attach” the image so that it won’t separate to fit the cutting mat. Then click the green “Make It” button.

Since you will be using permanent vinyl and NOT iron on vinyl for this DIY Teacher gift, the design does NOT have to be mirrored.

Cut the design using the “premium outdoor vinyl” setting, or set it cutting level according to the product you’re using.

Weed out the unneeded vinyl, and transfer to the coffee mug using transfer tape. You’re done!

Seriously, your child’s teacher will love having this personalized mug! We’ve already made two, and we’re planning on filling with a small bouquet of flowers to make it a great desk decoration for a few days. Best Student Ever! haha
