Homemade Shamrock Shakes

My kids love when I make easy treats for them for holidays, and St. Patrick’s Day is one of their favorites. All of my kids are part Irish, courtesy of my husband. So they all have an extra special connection to St. Patrick’s Day! As for me, well I’m happy to pretend to be Irish for the day and make them St. Patrick’s Day recipes like these Shamrock Shakes. And, I saved some money by making these instead of going to get them at McDonalds. I included these delicious copycat milkshakes as one of the desserts in my St. Patrick’s Day party this year. With the touch of mint flavor and green color, the Shamrock Shakes were perfect!

The recipe for these McDonalds Shamrock Shakes is really simple but there’s an important thing to remember – they do not contain “peppermint” but instead “mint extract.” They are very different, so make sure if you’re headed to the grocery store you pick up the mint extract.
