What is Moonshine?
Moonshine is a high proof, corn-based liquor that is usually known for its more “secretive” production on reality television shows. In fact, the name moonshine comes from being produced in the dark when no one could see! But there are a TON of moonshine distilleries that are perfectly legal and make great tasting flavors.
Apple Pie is one of the many flavors of moonshine that you can find wherever you purchase liquor. Because moonshine is generally high proof and mild in flavor, a lot of distilleries add fruit and other flavors to change the base flavor. I especially love the fruit flavored and varieties with fall flavors. I have even found pineapple moonshine locally!
Moonshine is a great base for cocktails, but be careful, because it can be strong! A little moonshine goes a long way.
