DIY Monogram Leather Tote Bag with Cricut Patterned Iron-On

Have y’all seen the new Cricut Patterned Iron On Vinyl? Omg, it’s awesome! I just got some in the mail and I couldn’t wait to try it out. This monogrammed leather tote is the first project I decided to make.

I found this faux brown leather tote at the Target Dollar Spot for $7 (seriously!) and I knew a monogram made with the Cricut Patterned Iron-On was perfect for it.

The patterned iron-on comes in really great sample color packs, like this Cricut Filigree Blue Patterned Iron-On Sampler (SHOP HERE). It looks perfect with the camel faux leather. The hardest part was choosing which one to use!

I designed the simple monogram using fonts and shapes in Cricut Design Space and sized it to fit the area of the bag I wanted to place it on.

After making sure my design was set to “mirror” and I placed the vinyl shiny side down on my mat, I cut the design, then weeded out the extra vinyl. Because of this being a faux leather tote I was a little scared to use iron-on vinyl, but with the temperature control afforded by the Cricut EasyPress, I decided to give it a go. (Don’t have a Cricut EasyPress? Well you need one! SHOP HERE). I figured that I’d start at a low temperature and work my way up as needed.

It worked like a charm! At a setting of 265 degrees for 30 seconds, the patterned iron went on perfectly (and the faux leather tote bag didn’t melt haha!) Look at how gorgeous this monogrammed leather tote came out!
