How to Make a DIY Grinchmas Shirt

Upload the Free Merry Grinchmas SVG file to your cutting software and size it to fit your shirt or onesie. Make sure to MIRROR the design before cutting, and then cut when ready. The shiny side of the vinyl goes DOWN on your mat. Weed away the extra vinyl. Iron on or use the EasyPress 2 to press the vinyl design onto the shirt. If you’re using the Cricut EasyPress, for recommendations based on your materials, you can check out the Cricut EasyPress Recommended Settings.

NOTE: This is one of my original SVG designs and is hand lettered as a single image. If you are using a Cricut machine and would like to make each word a different color, make multiple copies of the design and use the CONTOUR tool (<–click that link for a great tutorial from Cori of Hey Let’s Make Stuff) to separate the design elements.

For some reason when i upload the svg file to cricut it comes through as only black writing. I wanted to try to ungroup the words so that i could change the coloring however ungrouping isnt an option. Any ideas on how I can change the color? I absolutely love this, thank you for sharing!!

I’m glad you like it! You just have to slice it using a shape over the pieces you want to separate 🙂 Let me know if I can be of more help!

If you’re using a Cricut machine, make multiple copies of the design and use the contour tool to separate the elements! There is a brief instruction and tutorial link in the post! -CRO

    2. Pineapple Paper Co. says:

Oh! Or just use the “contour” tool and cut each part/color by itself! It’s so easy and I always forget about it!

If the file is opening directly on your computer and you don’t have a program that will open SVG files, it will open in a internet browser and look like html text. Check your downloads folder for the SVG file and directly upload it to your design software. If you have any other problems, email me at info@pineapplepaperco.com 🙂
