We’re back with another round of Craft Lightning to start off 2018, and this year myself and my fellow craft bloggers will be showing off a different DIY material each month. This month, it’s felt! And with Valentine’s Day in just a couple of short weeks, I thought it would be perfect to create a quick and easy DIY Felt Heart Hair Clip in just a few short minutes!

Materials needed to create this Craft Lightning Valentine’s Day Felt Hair Clip:

-Cricut Cutting Machine (I used the Cricut Maker BUY ONE HERE) If you don’t have one, you definitely need one! You could cut simple hearts by hand, but this tutorial is designed to be made with the new Cricut Rotary Blade, exclusive to the Maker. CHECK OUT THE MAKER HERE.
-Felt in 3 colors (I chose Red, Light Pink and White)
-Hot Glue Gun
-Hinged Blank Hair Clips (I got them at Michaels)
-Plain Headband, if you’d like to put the clip on a headband (I definitely stole one from my daughter’s collection).

We’ve created the heart shapes for you using Cricut Access files on Cricut Design Space, which will make this project incredibly easy, because you can head right over to the project on Design Space BY CLICKING HERE. Don’t have Cricut Access? Find out more about Access, including the DISCOUNTS you can get on digital designs and cutting materials by heading to the Cricut Access Page by CLICKING HERE.

When you get to the cutting page, you’ll see that Design Space has separated out the hearts by color, on three cutting mats. As you can see in the picture below, I’m getting ready to cut the red base hearts:

NOTE: I actually ended up changing the material to “Acrylic Felt.”

Once I changed the setting, holy cow look how awesome the Maker cut the felt with the new Rotary Blade! (SHOP THE MAKER HERE).

After all of your pieces are cut (in just a few minutes), collect the rest of your supplies.

Glue all of the layers together with the glue gun:

Then, run a strip of glue down the top side of the blank hair clip (look how well used that glue gun is HAHA!):

And then glue the hair clip to the center of the back of the layered heart. You officially have a finished DIY Valentine’s Day Heart Hair Clip!

My daughter immediately wanted to attach it to a headband, which is easy with the “alligator” style clips. She loves it! She’s going to wear it to school for her Valentine’s Day parties:

Seriously y’all, I completed this project in under 10 minutes, including cutting time. Now that’s a definitely Craft Lightning!
