How to Make Easy Chocolate Cake for Easter with Bunny Decorations

The best part of this cake idea is that you really can make it however you would like – you can use vanilla cake, make it square, only two layers, or even use store bought icing. Use whatever you have in your pantry!

Basic Instructions for the Chocolate Easter Bunny Cake:

Bake your cake according to the instructions on the box. Depending on the brand and the size/number of layers you want the cake to be, you may have to make two batches of cake mix. Let cool.

Once the cakes have cooled, prepare chocolate icing and layer in-between the cakes using a star tip so it leaves the pretty edge that’s visible.

Using the fondant, make small carrots to decorate the top. Use small amounts of orange and green food coloring and form the carrots and stems with your fingers and small craft knife. If the fondant is too sticky, use a little bit of corn starch or powdered sugar to keep from sticking to your fingers/counters.

Decorate the top of the cake and cake stand with chocolate cookie crumbs. Add your Peeps Bunny Marshmallows to the top of the cake by sticking them on with toothpicks.

Note: if you decide to make your cake 3 or more layers, you can use plastic straws cut to height to stabilize the cake and keep it from leaning too far.
