Attention all Groundhog Day fans! I have found some of the CUTEST desserts and sweet snacks you can make with your kids today! Whether you are a fan of the movie or are celebrating Punxsutawney, Pennsylvania’s most famous woodchuck, you will love these Groundhog Day Treats!
Groundhog Day Treats
Every year on February 2, people travel to Punxsutawney, PA to see whether Phil the groundhog sees his shadow or not when he emerges from his tree trunk home on Gobbler’s Knob! If he sees his shadow, it means six more weeks of winter, and if Phil does not see his shadow, it means spring is right around the corner!
Did you know that he RARELY does NOT see his shadow? I do, because I grew up just a few miles down the road from Punxsutawney! We love celebrating our most famous groundhog by having a little party every year!
I have gathered up some of my favorite Groundhog Day desserts! From cute groundhog-themed cupcakes to delicious pudding cups, all of these 12+ Groundhog Day recipes are perfect for sharing with family, friends, or with your classroom students!

Take your dessert game up a notch with Groundhog Day pudding cups. The combination of creamy pudding and chocolatey goodness will have everyone asking for seconds. They are so creative – marshmallow bits, candy eyes, and chocolates added to Nutter Butter cookies form the groundhog, and coconut shreds with green food coloring are on top of the pudding cup for a playful touch.
This easy snack mix is a tasty blend of textures and flavors! There are sweet piped chocolate groundhogs with candy eyes mixed with a sweet and salty type of Chex mix.

Groundhog cookies would be perfect as a classroom treat or an after school snack while you watch a replay of the early morning Punxsutawney festivities. And who doesn’t love chocolate cookies?!
Here’s another version of Groundhog Day cupcakes – my kids would love these because of all of the chocolate sprinkles! Also – I had no idea that Michigan has it’s own version of Punxsutawney Phil – did you?!
